Sorry I haven’t been blogging in a while. Getting ready for this trip north requires a lot of planning to make sure we get to make the best of the miles we travel and meet the most people.
We are pleased to welcome a new sponsor to our videos. Since this sponsor isn’t a woodworking tool or project, thought we would give it a little more intro. As all of you know if ya follow his blog, Charles puts in 12-14 hour days, seven days a week and ya know at our age, keeping the ol’ energy level up is sometimes difficult. Most of you are also aware that I had a heart attack at the end of May that zapped a lot of my energy as well.
Back in July we were introduced to a product called GoChi juice, we each take 2 oz. each morning. It is all natural and doesn’t conflict with any medications I take. After about 10 days, I was working a full day again. Not a miracle, just seems to help my body and works for me. Charles says it works for him too, we take our “shot” of juice when we get our first cup of coffee in the morning and we really feel it has made a difference in how we feel, our sleep at night has also improved. Again, this is just what we have experience and so we continue supplementing our diet with a shot every morning.
There is also an energy drink called Chi 3. Charles has used this some when on a deadline, you know, the ones he’s blogged about. Anyway, the folks we buy from asked if they could sponsor our videos like the woodworking folks and after we thought about it, we didn’t see why not. We always tell ya that if we find a good product, we’ll tell ya about it, so…..
We’re pleased to welcome a new sponsor today. You can find out more by clicking on the banner.

I have emailed Charles’ article on Woodworking as a Business to everyone I have received a request from so far, so if you would like to have a copy of this article, just Email Us!
Happy Woodworking & Be Safe!

Good Morning, Charles is running late today! Just finished typing his blog, but because there are no photos today, it is actually published early. But in all seriousness, we were late today, stayed up and watched the Debate and over slept.
Haven’t posted in a couple of days, been really busy. Ya’ll know that for the most part it is just Charles and me, so we wear a lot of hats around here. This is the way the day goes for me:
5:30 am – Wake Up
6am – On the Way to the Shop
6:30am – Get to shop – Open – turn on computers and make coffee!!!!
6:30am – 8am – Change the website quote, rotate sponsor banners on all video players, check emails, send welcome emails to new subscribers to youtube.com and our newsletter. Check new DVD orders, do all the details and get ready for shipping.
8:00am to 8:30am – drink coffee, chill, check stats on blogs, web site and so on.
8:30am – Charles gets to shop, we have coffee and plan the day that isn’t going to go anything like we planned, but we try.
4:30pm – I usually go home about this time….Charles stays until 6:30 or 7pm unless we have a big deadline looming and then its much much later.
We do this six days a week, Charles is often seven but Sunday is more of his play day, unless there is a big deadline. Getting away from the shop last Friday and Saturday was nice even if most of the time was spent driving.
Whew, tired already and it’s only twenty minutes til’ eleven. Time for another cup of coffee.
Our sponsors are coming through with some nice prizes for our weekly contests but I can’t seem to get as much participation from every one so if you have any ideas, let me know. Yesterday I re-worked our Home Page to include the contest announcement. Ya see, maybe I’m wrong, but I just think that ya ought to have to do something to enter, that’s why I send you on a “very easy” scavenger hunt to answer a question. I want everyone to check out the blog, that’s why the details are there and I want ya’ll to visit our forum, that’s why you post your answers there (also easier for me to track). I have a dedicated legal pad, numbered on the left from 1 to ????, as the answers come in, I write down the name with a number. At the end of the week, I draw a number and that’s the winner. ::sigh:: The sponsors are really coming through to support these videos and contests but I just don’t seem to be able to get ya’ll to visit them, tell me what we can do differently.

Good Morning Everyone!
My day has started on a really upbeat email. Charles and I have been building furniture for so long many days have become ho-hum. A year and a half ago we embarked on the educational DVD series and put a lot of blood, sweat and tears producing the “Finishing A to Z: Beyond the Books” DVD set. We have received many emails from you guys and this morning the following was waiting in our in-box.
Charles, I have been a hobby woodworker for many years and would modestly say that I am at least an advanced woodworker with many notable projects to my credit. My finishing techniques were good with what little I knew. But I have to tell you that I have learned more in the first five CD’s of the ten CD A-Z finishing set then I have learned on my own in ten years. The first five CD’s alone were worth the total price of the set and I can’t wait to finish watching the next five CD’s. Your a great instructor who teaches in plain english so that we can all understand and I feel like I am learning from a friend. You even make me laugh from time to time which makes it fun to learn! You have unlock a lot of mysteries in the finishing world and when I look at a woodworking catalog I now understand about so many finishing products of which I had no clue of how and why they are used.
I was wondering if you had a basic starting formula for cutting the ZAR Seal Coat Shellac (2 pound cut) into a barrier coat. I know you teach that we have to experiment but I was wondering what would be a good starting point with this exact product which is easy for me to get at the box store?
Sincerely
R L

Nice….made for a good start to our day and encourages us to keep reaching inside us to see how we can take our experience and pass it on to you.
Tomorrow morning we leave for Good Hope Hardwoods in Landenberg, PA to deliver and place the Bubinga slab and do a video to introduce you to Norman and Skip. Think you all will enjoy that. Good Hope is a specialty mill with some absolutely fantastic pieces.
We should be back Sunday morning so you might have to live with no updates until Monday!
I have already put the “Rubbing Out” video on Brightcove and it is our Video of the Day today. For whatever reason, until the video is 24 hours old, it has a lot of stuttering going on so I’m going to leave it there a couple of days while we are gone. I am putting it on youtube as I type but had to split it into 2 parts.
That’s all for me today, have a lot to do to get ready to go and we are filming a few small clips for Woodcraft today. Hope you all check out the clips Charles has done for Woodcraft, you can watch them from the “How To Videos” page.
Have a great day!
Hello to Charles and George!
